Grey Wagtail Motacilla cinerea Size: 17-20cm UK Status: fairly common resident breader / fairly common passage visitor | This wagtail has the longest tail which it constantly wags! Grey back with yellow underparts, particularly the vent. Black wings with white bar noticeable in flight. In summer adult male develops a black bib. Breeds across most of Britain, with some winter migrants arriving in eastern England and some migrating away from the far north in winter. Found in the vicinity of fast running water, and occasionally near lakes and canals etc. | |
